HI guys!
ITS wedNEZday, you know what it is
again, sorry i dont post more. i work like 60 hrs a week. and even right now i gotta keep this short and sweet and get back to work!
So last night 2/7/12.. i decided to feed the homeless with friends.
Of course it had just rained, so in my head i was like PSH no there are no homeless out..
So i decided to feed them without spending my own money, or my friends money.
We were going to get the food from restaurants or other means..
So we start on our mission going to different restaurants and simply telling them what we were going to do, and if they had any food to spare… and some of my friends knew restaurant owners so they hit them up and we headed there.
YOU would not believe how much food is out there, and how willing people are to help.
We came back with like 6 indian food dishes, bread for 200 people, a subway platter, um more bread, croissants, muffins, candy. Some of my other friends were outside ralphs, and these LMU students bought them groceries and even wanted to do it the following week on a larger scale!
The craziest part was that it was all FREE. Amazing right?
So the next part is to find the homeless, of course this proved to be harder due to the fact that it had just rained and a lot of them i assumed would be in homeless shelters.. well we called the homeless shelters to see if we could drop off the food there and they said they had curfews so we probably couldn’t or we could but we wanted to feed 270 homeless by 11 PM
So we all split up, hollywood, venice, wherever.
And were about to lose hope and give up that we cant find any.. when my friend gives us a call to go to Rose and 300 by Venice sorta.. and as we turn onto the street.. i lose my breathe and my jaw drops.
Hundreds of people with tarp covering them, on the cold street, with families, small children. Out in the rain. Starving.
So we get to work.
By 11 PM we had fed about 220 people.
I made a difference to 220 people.
This was such an eye opening experience, that the food i had bought myself earlier, i didnt even want. And when i finally mustered up the stomach to eat it, i had never enjoyed food as much in my life.
For the whole night, as well as today i just stayed in thought to all the things i’m grateful for
A warm bed, being able to shower, food, clothes, omg. list of like 100 things at least.
ITS CRAZY how much i have.
So thats my story.. i gotta get back to work! sorry guys, thank you so much for reading
it really does mean the world that people sit and read my thoughts and stories for a while.. crazy
